If the shoe fits

Wear it! Those words of advice have never been more accurate than when it comes to New York weather these last few weeks. It’s not quite summer, but it’s also not the full on bluster of winter. In fact it’s somewhere in between. Confused is the best definition for our current weather and confused too are our wardrobes. It was hot and humid at the end of last week with endless rain, but after a beautiful weekend we feel the sun, however a chill is still in the air. The hardest part for me with this weather is choosing the appropriate shoe.

While it’s too cold for a sandal it’s too warm for a boot. There in lies both the issue and, now, the solution. Stubbs & Wootton ladies (and men)! The ideal shoe that fits the confused weather and works as a fix for the confused shoe dilemma. I love Stubbs & Wootton and their the only flats I actually own and will wear. I selected two new pairs this weekend, one a fun colorful Guise Pink, (above), and the other a limited addition cute travel shoe that I’ll share later this month.

Nevertheless, Stubbs & Wootton accentuate an outfit, can be worn dressier or weekend casual, and are quite comfortable – not to mention also on trend. The options are endless, but remember it’s true, if the shoe fits wear it, xo.

a nod to nautical

The summer time weather has made me think a whole lot about summer time foot wear. From sandals to flip flops I live for opened toed shoes after a winter of boots. One shoe I haven’t added to the collection just yet would be the ever popular Sperry Boat Shoes. Ever since I can remember boat shoes have been on trend and a cute substitute for a ballet flat.

I’ve never felt comfortable in them, but I after I spotted these at J.Crew in several fantastic colors I can’t help but be won over. Perfect to wear over the weekend with cute shorts or colorful skinnies and a comfortable tee or tank there the ideal casual shoe to add into the mix. I can’t wait to purchase a pair, add a stripe, and fashion some nautical chic, xo.

color with Manolo

I’m all for a pop of color these days especially on the feet. It’s the perfect compromise to my otherwise muted wardrobe. When I first saw this Manolo Blahnik neon heels all I could think over and over was “pop of color, pop of color, pop of color.” The shoes practically scream for every New Yorker to stop and stare down, their in short the perfect attention grabbing, conversation piece, and summer shoe. It’s an all in one deal that I love.

I couldn’t help, but pop (no pun intended) into the Manolo Blahnik store on Madison Avenue this afternoon with mom after a delicious lunch. I tried them on and well as they say,  the rest is history. I couldn’t believe that I fell for the blue, below, so hard especially because I had the pink in mind, but their the fun heel I’ve coveted for some time now.

I also picked up a tannish suede pump that’s the ideal every day shoe for work, play, and in between, it’s also unbelievably comfortable. I plan on wearing them to an event on Monday, but for now I’m off to brunch with friends, dressed casual, with sandals and hair in a loose bun, xo.

Tassel Tempted

Recently I’ve been thinking about tassels. On my flight home I flipped through the newest issued of Harper’s Bazaar and noticed a selection of fabulous tassels. It’s one of the hottest trends this season! I love the different colors, but I also love the refined look. The tassel shoe is the perfect update to the traditional flat. Whether a casual stroll window shopping or a fun dinner out with girlfriends tassel shoes can be dressed up or down to create a fun look. Below find a selection of several favorite and fun tassel shoes. You’ll be on trend and look super chic in these options.

Though I’m gearing up for a long week ahead the thought of getting back into the flow of things makes me excited to see what the week holds! I can’t wait to share all the fun interviews and dish this month. Have a fantastic and chic start to the week fashion dish readers, xo.

spring sole, neons galore

Yesterday, The Zoe Report landed in my inbox with the title “sole motivation”.  I clicked and browsed at once! There couldn’t be a better time for some fantastic colorful excitement in order to help me beat what’s turned into a chaotic sleepless week. Every day I pass Nanette Lepore’s fabulous Madison Avenue boutique. Recently I’ve become mad about her beautiful color blocked wedges in the window.

There is nothing better than a great shoe and there is really nothing better than the perfect summer shoe. I can only imagine what it would be like to wear the neon wedge to add  a pop of color to a little white dress or a casual short. As Samantha Yanks, editor of Gotham and Hamptons says, “I lust, I must, it’s superlux”. These Lepore’s, appropriately named the Electrifying Wedge and the Bombshell Wedge, are superlux indeed. I think I’ll try to sneak in at some point tomorrow or in-between an interview and meetings on Friday to pick them up. I just can’t help myself. It’s definitely sole motivation. Below are the shoes themselves as well as Rachel Zoe’s option which I love too.

Here’s to the motivational soles, xo

five warm weather shoes

Though it’s still chilly here in New York I am constantly thinking of summer wear, and even more so now after picking up some very chic warm weather pieces this afternoon (more on that in a later post). I look forward to not having to wear socks and bulky boots and instead switch it up between chic wedges, sexy flats, and the ultimate pumps. I have some shoes I can’t wait to get my hands on for the summer as well as some I find myself returning to every time the seasons change to the warmer months. The five warm weather must have shoes below will have you kicks seriously pumped!

Here’s to pretty feet, xo

1) Jack Rogers – You can never go wrong with this classic sandal, but change it up in their new Santa Fe!

2) Stuart Weitzman Crocheted Ankle-Wrap Espadrille – Jen Aniston loves her!

3) Havaianas – the Missoni version is super cool and adorable and makes the perfect staple

4) Brian Atwood’s Maniac Pumps – A colorful shoe is a must have and I am crazy for these!

5) Stubbs & Wootton – Let’s be real we all need a flat day and these new flats are the perfect accessory!

pumped up kicks

There’s a new shoe trend this season and it’s one that our feet will thank us for. The pump has made a comeback. Super tall heels were noticeably absent from such runways as Theyskens’ Theory and Dennis Basso. Instead they opted for a toned down pump a few inches shorter than usual.  This is the optimal warm weather trend where them from the office to the weekend casual with jeans. Here’s a round up of some favorite’s. Note the color which is so on trend.

Let it Rain with Hunter Chic

It’s so not chic when it rains in New York. Add the left over slush from this weekend’s snow fall and it’s not a fun look. Enter Hunter Boots. They may change your rainy weather style forever. My favorite part about Hunter’s is the color variety, from pinks, to yellows, to classic black there’s so many options it’s hard to choose just one! You’ll want them all. At $125 they’re a fantastic investment, you’ll where them over and over and over. Especially when I look at the weather report and see rain four days in a row I know I’ll be warm and dry in my adorable, chic boots.

celebrities love their Hunters

There’s no reason to sacrifice style simply because of the weather, instead embrace it! Never ruin another flat in the rain you’ll want to pull these durable boots on. Plus, for all the lil ones there’s mini hunters! So lux and chic.

So let it rain, xo

bootie call

I feel like each year the winter season creeps up so quickly upon us. One minute we’re lounging in the sun, but before we know it we’re buttoning our jackets up and exchanging our sandals for boots! One of my favorite trends this season are booties. While you can wear booties in the summer too I feel like a bootie in the winter is a change from the over the knee or biker boot we tend to sport this time of month. While I’ll always be loyal to my trusty Frye’s I’ve recently made two purchases, (and in the spirit of Christmas thinking of adding one more to my wish list), that I love just as much. I’ve written about my adorable Dolce Vita tan boots that I’ve received numerous compliments on, but today I found another pair that I’m absolutely crazy about.

I decided to enjoy my first day of break by sleeping in a little bit later than usual before putting on my workout clothes (American Apparel leggings, ONLY NY tee, Splendid long sleeve shirt, and rain coat), and indulging in a large latte and delicious bowl of oatmeal at my local Le Pain. After pilates, which I am so in love with these days, I met up with a friend to have lunch, of course we also did some shopping afterwards! We had a few scrumptious appetizers at the Spice Market, located in the Village, and than took a walk browsing the holiday windows.

I have the ones third from the left, but in grey!

While I’ve  passed by Comptoir des Cotonniers a few times on the Upper East Side I’ve only browsed through the store once. But, today I had a ton of luck! Contonniers is a french store with a very fashionable slew of items including dresses, sweaters, and accessories. I found my second to die for pair of booties. Their a perfect gray, so they can be worn with both black and brown and fit super comfortably. I cannot wait to wear them tomorrow paired with my brown Phillip Lim 3.1 dress.

I would definitely invest in a bootie this season as their the perfect shoe to transform any outfit and are so in. While I like to wear them paired with jeans and dresses they also look adorable with the shorts and tights trend and even a pair of leggings! What an investment.

How is everyone celebrating Thanksgiving eve? Hopefully in style. xx fashion dish

seduction, color, and heels

We all know how I feel about heels. I love to just stare at them even if I can’t wear them every minute. There a form of art to me, so when Brian Atwood  debuted his slightly cheaper shoe collection, B Brian Atwood I fell madly in love. So far I own the marvelous purple pumps that I wore to FNO, this season however I’m seriously of splurging for a brand new pair. I love the color block Resort pump I wrote about last week, so I was thrilled to discover this to die for video! Can you say seduction, color, and heels!

These pumps are definite lusts, so here are several  musts!
